Kareem G. Nakshbendi

Founder & Co-President
Kareem Nakshbendi is a second year, full time MBA with a dual concentration on Finance & Real Estate Development.  Mr. Nakshbendi has founded two student organizations at the Kogod School of Business; the Kogod Private Equity & Venture Capital Club and the Financial Management Association - American University Chapter.  The FMA recently received the Superior Chapter Award for 2009-2010.  In addition, he was also a 1st Year Director of Programming for the Graduate Business Association at the Kogod School of Business.  Mr. Nakshbendi is also the President of the Real Estate Club, a member of the American University College Republicans Club, and was Captain of the championship co-ed soccer intramural team and several other organizations on-campus. 


This summer, Mr. Nakshbendi worked as a Summer Associate at The Olayan Group in New York City, NY; which is a large private equity firm that manages $(confidential) billion; focusing primarily on real estate private equity and late stage corporate private equity.  The Olayan Group are GP/Co-Investors with Goldman Sachs Capital Partners, Blackstone Group, Carlyle Group, Morgan Stanley, Related Companies, Starwood Capital, Deutsche Bank and many other world class investment firms with outstanding quality deal flow.


Prior to Kogod, Mr. Nakshbendi held the position of Vice President and Director of the "Private Equity Fund I" at a prominent $3.5 billion Middle East-based private equity firm where he focused on identifying private equity, growth capital and venture capital investments in addition to working on the deal team for mergers, acquisitions and restructuring assignments in a variety of industries in both the United States, United Kingdom and Middle East region. During his career he has worked on transactions with McDonald’s Corporation, EuropCar International, ELS Educational Services, Inc. (a Berlitz Company), and many others. Previously, he worked in the buyout fund at another prominent Middle East-based private equity firm. Prior to his Middle East private equity experience, Mr. Nakshbendi was based in the Washington, D.C. area working for a real estate private equity firm and before that, a venture capital-backed portfolio company. Mr. Nakshbendi started his career with Morgan Stanley & Company.


Mr. Nakshbendi is currently pursuing his M.B.A. in Finance and Real Estate Development from the Kogod School of Business and graduated from Towson University with a B.S. in Finance. He is a member of the Financial Management Association International Honor Society, American Academy of Financial Management, National Association of Industrial & Office Properties-NAIOP (DC), Urban Land Institute-ULI (DC), Arab Bankers Association of North America (NYC), and sits on the Young Professionals Council of the National Italian American Foundation (DC).
